Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt since March of 2023.
Success also means the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.
His retrieving approach and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an better serve.
He fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.
Moutet defended four initial break points in a close third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Suitably, he earned victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
